We got 8 YO Jupiter's results from last week's bloodwork and thyroid panel at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital and all levels were normal. Meanwhile a subcutaneous growth in his lower rib cage burst, and another one has developed. He will return to Rocky Gorge to drain the new growth, to make sure the open growth does not get infected, and to determine a course of action to resolve his weakness.

For today's visit to Veterinary Holistic Care (VHC), I decided to take 7 YO Merlot to acupuncture without the company of either of her roommates. She had a ball being the center of attention for her fourth acupuncture session.

Merlot was Queen-for-a-Day! She got to sit on my lap, the Vet Tech's lap, and got hugs from Dr. Pema. You can see the acupuncture needles in this photo. Merlot is so used to them now that she walks around with needles down her spine, abdomen, and ankles without even noticing them.

I am delighted to report that Merlot's weight dropped from 120 lbs. to 114.9 lbs within the past week. Good job, Girlie!

Merlot had only one bed flooding incident a week ago, but has otherwise been dry since she began having acupuncture in early May.

Merlot and Vet Tech Victoria nuzzled, cuddled, and cooed! The Tech thought Merlot was attracted to her because she is pregnant, but I told her that Merlot is a shameless flirt with everyone who has a pulse!

Acupuncture must be very pleasurable for our canine friends. As usual, Merlot settled down and napped all the way home, despite my weaving through rush hour traffic. When we got home, she jumped into bed and settled down for a long nap. It must be really hard work allowing oneself to be adored!

It's so funny to hear the noises Merlot makes when she nestles in her bed.  You'd think someone was torturing her, but her grunts and groans are signs of relaxation.
