Because of schedule conflicts, it's been almost three weeks since Jupiter and Merlot had acupuncture at Veterinary Holistic Care (VHC) in Bethesda, MD. This delay caused Merlot to soil her bed twice and Jupiter to stiffened up again. Obviously we have to maintain the bi-weekly sessions until they stabilize. |

Both Jupiter at 144 lbs and Merlot at 122 lbs are holding their weight steady. Since Merlot is 20 lbs heavier than she was prior to this year, she needs to loose the extra weight. It's tough since musculoskeletal problems limit her mobility, but we're working on it! |

. We got some concerning news today about Jupiter. In May, Dr. Pema heard a left valve insufficiency, but we knew about this since his laparoscopic gastropexy at Virginia Tech in 2006. Because this is a symptom of cardiomyopathy, they ran tests but found no significant malfunction. After listening to Jupiter's heart today, Dr. Pema mentioned her concerns again. We will schedule an echocardiogram at Rocky Gorge Vet. |

Today Jupiter got his needles inserted
first, then Merlot got hers and they settled down to "cook" for 30 minutes.
After Jupiter's were removed, Merlot still had a few minutes left. Despite
that, as soon as she saw Jupiter moving around, Merlot bounced up and walked
over to Dr. Pema. She turned around and backed into her as if to say, "Now please take mine
out too!"
