Holistic Healing: Senior Dane healthcare  August 1, 2008

Merlot and Jupiter had their 9th acupuncture session with Dr. Pema Mallu. Merlot's incontinence came back with a vengeance last week, a typical pattern for her. However she also begun tripping on flat surfaces and doesn't seem to know where her rear feet are, so Dr. Pema went right to work.

Dr. Pema takes each dog's pulse before starting acupuncture. Merlot and Jupiter are so used to her hands-on approach that they settle in and enjoy themselves.

Dr. Pema also works with a no kill animal rescue and mentioned that they just had 6 black and yellow Labrador Retriever puppies turned in. If anyone is interested, please contact Dr. Pema at Veterinary Holistic Care for more information.

Dr. Pema took special care with Merlot, working to identify the best meridians to treat her condition. Merlot had a concentration of needles in her heels, legs, and lower back.

In two weeks Savannah will have her initial VTC assessment and titer test. We spayed Savannah late, and so far she has had no problems with incontinence. By also doing titers instead of annual vaccines, we hope to avoid the autoimmune problems that Merlot has experienced.

Ahhh.....he's feeling good now! Jupiter does not mind being a pincushion at all. During this session, at least he didn't perfume the air too much!

Next week Jupiter will have a chiropractic adjustment with Dr.Mark Haverkos. Having both acupuncture and chiropractic has helped increase his mobility and reduce his pain. It's a great solution since Jupiter can't tolerate nsaids like Rimadyl or Previcox.
