Gas street lights, brick walkways, a period clock tower, and an antique shop border this charming area. In warm weather, our Farmers Market is open on Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Town Center. Local farmers display fresh produce in the shadow of the replica of a turn-of-the-century train station at the Riverdale Park Camden Line Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) depot. Also at Town Center are the Veterans Monument, Dumm's Corner deli and convenience store, Taylor-Wells Antiques and the Bookshop & Coffee Depot. The latter is our local 'watering hole.' It is not uncommon to see the Mayor, local artists, council representatives and residents discussing issues over espresso and fresh pastries. The Riverdale Park Volunteer Fire Department is in the next block. Every Christmas, Santa Claus arrives riding on one of our Fire Engines. Children eagerly await his arrival and wave as he passes by. Our Riverdale Park Police Department is further down Queensbury Road. The Police Department boasts 13 officers, and at one time, Cliff the police dog. They do an admirable job of ensuring the safety and well being of both residents and visitors to our community. Adjacent to the Police Department is Riverdale Park Town Hall. This building underwent major renovation in fall, 2000 to better utilize interior space. Town Hall includes the offices of the Mayor and Town Administrator, and is the heart of our local government. At the end of Queensbury Road and beside Town Hall is Riverdale Park Public Works Department. Two employees fell in love and were married after the Veterans Day 2000 Ceremony. Public Works manages infrastructure support and code enforcement for Riverdale Park. They help to keep our town clean and attractive. Riverdale Park Day, held in October on Riversdale Mansion grounds, includes a parade with local bands, antique autos, and fun and games for children of all ages. Riverdale Park is a nice place to live!
